The fall, especially in south Louisiana, brings a lot of different things.  It delivers football season, tailgating, and eventually cooler weather.  And while the high season for swimming may be in the rearview mirror, if you are considering building an in-ground pool, this could be the perfect time of the year to do so.  Here are a few reasons why the fall and winter in our warm climate are a great time to build your pool.

• Pool builder availability: The height of the pool building season is during the spring and summer. By waiting until the calendar turns to Autumn, you’ll have less competition for getting your pool built. 

• Lower materials costs: As the year winds down, it’s not uncommon for the prices of pool and building materials to decrease. There could be, to some extent, some savings to be had by building later in the year.

• Expanded timeline: When you begin building your pool in the spring with your goal to be enjoying your new space for the summer, you run the risk of delays caused by weather.  In the fall, while there still may be rain and other events that slow down progress, you have time on your side to be ready for the warmer temperatures.

• Landscaping: While the construction of your pool will take a toll on your lawn, you may also opt for some new landscaping to highlight your improved backyard.  Between the time your when pool is completed and spring rolls around, your lawn will not only have time to recover, but your new landscaping will have more time to take root.

• Tax benefit: Building your pool in the fall also gives you one last chance for a tax write off.  The interest you spend building your new pool and improving your home is tax deductible.
