Just because the sun goes down doesn’t mean that pool time needs to end. Whether you’d like keep swimming and stay out of the evening heat, or just want to enjoy an evening on the patio around your pool; pool lights provide comfort and safety. So, what do you need to know about pool lighting, and what are the latest options?
What Types of Pool Lights are There?
There are three types of pool lights. Incandescent, halogen, and LED. Incandescent lightbulbs are just like the ones you use in your home, and provide only white light. Halogen lights are much more compact and use less power, however, they are also limited to only providing white light. The newest type of lighting option is LED. What are some of the benefits of LED pool lights?
Benefits of LED Pool Lights
LED lights are significantly more energy efficient than traditional incandescent and halogen lights. They also provide several color options, offering brilliant lighting effects. Think of LED bulbs as HDTV, and other older bulbs as standard definition. LEDs in addition to being eco-friendly, can last up to six times longer than other light bulb options.
The lighting of your pool can be changed to match any mood or setting with LED bulbs. Static colors like blue, green, and red can give your pool a whole new look. You can also program the lights to put on a vibrant, color changing light show.
If you are building a pool, or having an older pool and thinking of upgrading, updating and adding LED lights is great option. Not only will you save electricity, but you’ll be able to enhance the overall aesthetics of your pool at the same time.
